The biggest challenge every tournament faces is to sell the sponsorship packages. Selling these sponsorships should be used as a marketing tool for both you and your client. Cross marketing between you and your sponsor can leave a lasting impression on everyone.

Businesses are usually happy help a good cause. It helps them to raise their own profile in the community and gives them the chance for some inexpensive advertising and exposure. Recruit business sponsors to donate cash, prizes, giveaways, awards or their services for auction items or door prizes. It never hurts to JUST ask.

Always include in your sponsorship packages some form of advertising at the event and pre-event advertising. You can print the logos of your major sponsor(s) on all of your marketing pieces pre-event and day of marketing materials. Get one or two businesses to sponsor welcome gifts and have their logos imprinted on them. Distribute prizes and giveaways like golf balls and golf bags with sponsors' logos on them. Print banners listing the names of all sponsors and the level they supported. Publish all sponsors in your program.
